The Haunted Valley
Wood elven oral tradition holds that they left (Yosemite) 1000 years ago over a dispute between they and their High Elvin cousins over allowing Mountain Dwarves into the high country of their sacred Valley. Though nothing has befallen the High Elves, the Wood elves are convinced that eventually the old blood grudge between their people will manifest.
Arriving in the general area of the Spring Valley, the Wood Elves hold tale that they arrived at the Thorpe of Trampania during the time of the Rising of Markus and Delilah to their Deity-hood. Seeing things were well in hand for the survival of the human town, they travelled south, coming to an area that they knew not what to do about.
While not interested in living directly in this valley that had something terribly off about it, they decided to live nearby, in a valley a little ways south near a couple of settlements that were just under construction. The place is known in the common tongue by all residents as the Haunted Valley. When first discovered by the wood elves it was a dark and quiet place, whatever was wrong deep inside of it asleep and restful for the time being. The bravest of their people took it upon themselves to go in to the depths and see what was there. Those who returned talked extensively of ancient faengards so old that they were unsure of the ancient elven tongue scribed upon the rocks. Such ancient gards meant something dark was locked away and needed to have someone willing to take what care they could of these standing stones.
