The Broken Branch Tribe

The faun are new arrivals in Spring Valley, having only been here some 100 plus years (closer to 200 than they know). They live circling the edges of what they call Green Lake. Some parts of their oral history are embellished so knowing exactly when they got there is sketchy. What is correct though is that they were once part of a larger group of faun migrating west. The Heat Stone tribe travelled over two mountain ranges to arrive here (they speak of the first range being much taller and difficult to traverse). When they came across Green Lake about a quarter of the tribe wanted to stay, so in typical faun fashion, they waved and smiled, said good bye to loved ones and those that cared to, continued moving to the southwest.
Without a real tribal name for years, the group finally came up with one, when Broken Branch the Ent came through the area in a fury. The faun fled in a panic as Broken Branch searched the area for the goblins who had hewn at him with their little axes. He caused much damage to the faun encampment in his unknowing belief that this was the goblin lair. The bravest of the tribe, Herilow One-Horn, finally confronted the enraged ent and in the tongue of nature, told Broken Branch he had turned his rage against the wrong folk. Surprised that this little person spoke in his tongue, the ent calmed and listened. After a night long discussion, Herilow returned to the tribe and told them of what had befallen the Ent. The tribal druids set about to repair Broken branch as best they could with the blessings of nature and the tribe set out to find these goblins. After several days of tracking and Broken Branch’s powers and ambush was laid and the the goblins were driven off or killed (and in typical faun fashion the story is kinda hazy here). They returned to the lake and tales say the named themselves in honor of the ent they helped so many years ago.
